Happy Birthday to YOU!

February 19-25

This week was a birthday week for my family.  My sister, Kelly, and her husband Maxx both celebrated birthdays within a week of each other and Ted's birthday was on Saturday.  My brother, DJ, just started dating a sweet girl named, Maggie, who also had a February birthday, so we decided to have a big birthday celebration at my parents' house over the weekend.  I let the kids pick out a little something for uncle Maxx and aunt Kelly.  I think uncle Maxx was most excited about the silly putty from the kids!  They also got daddy some new work socks, because he had mentioned needing some.  Ted had fun celebrating his birthday all week long with birthday cards and packages arriving in the mail from his family.  We are so thankful for Ted, for his leadership in our home, for the wonderful husband he is, and for how much he loves being a daddy.  It was extra special to know that this time next year, he will be a daddy of THREE!

I didn't take any photos during the week, because it was a rough one for this pregnant mama.  I've had morning sickness pretty bad with my other pregnancies, but I think this is the worst yet.  I was pretty miserable, throwing up 2-3 times a day for several days in a row.  I couldn't eat much more than toast and sometimes I couldn't even keep that down.  I was really worried about becoming dehydrated, because I was dizzy, weak, and lightheaded all the time.  Thankfully the kids were so sweet, coming over to cuddle with me and asking to "pray mommy feel better".  My doctor suggested Vitamin B, which seemed to help a little bit over the weekend, so we were able to enjoy our weekend away at Family Life's Weekend to Remember.

Cleaning is so much fun when there are empty shelves and boxes to play in!

March 4-10

Of course, as is usual for me, the nausea was back in full force Sunday night.  It seems that some days are better than others.  I finally called my doctor at the end of the week and she prescribed some Zofran.  It wasn't quite a "miracle drug" as some people have said, but now instead of throwing up 2-3 times a day I'm only throwing up once a day and it's a little more bearable.  Hopefully each week will be a little bit better.  This was also a rough week, because we decided to have our floors refinished and scheduled it for the next week.  So, I had one week to move EVERYTHING from the living room and two bedrooms (aka: the main living areas of our home) while being so sick with morning sickness.  I did as much as I could, but Ted had to do the majority of the work along with his friend, Nick's help with all the heavy furniture.  The kids are pretty excited about the project, but mostly because they know they'll be spending the next week with Pappi and Gamma.

February 12-18

Ted and I enjoyed an early Valentine's date on Monday night.  We went to a coffee shop and spent time talking about our family mission statement as well as thinking about writing out our will.  As parents, we really can't put it off any longer, because we know how precious life is and we truly do not know what tomorrow will bring.  On Valentine's Day, I was not feeling the greatest, so I was glad we enjoyed our date night earlier.  We bought the kids each a little something as well as a Valentine's card from us.  My parents always made us feel special on Valentine's Day (actually, they still do!), so I wanted to keep that tradition in our own home.  Ted and I decided the most important thing we could give each other for Valentine's Day was time together, so our date night was our gift to each other.  But, he did send me beautiful flowers and I made him a sweet little photo flip book of memories from our first five years.  It was so sweet to hear Valerie say (after listening to Ted read the card I wrote him out loud), "daddy love mommy...and mommy loves daddy!"  We know that one of the most precious gifts we can give to our kids is to make our marriage a priority and give them the security of knowing we love each other no matter what.
